Hi!
I've just finished the job with onboarding all kinds of Windows and Linux machines to Azure ARC. Believing that I was almost done, I surprisingly encountered problems of adding some servers to maintenance configurations to schedule updates.
Found out that this problem applies to Win2012r2 with ESU status "not enabled", but not all of them either. The activity log shows an "Internal Server Error (HTTP Status Code: 500)" error.
What can be wrong? Why has no one else apparently experienced this problem?

I encountered the same problem just now with maintenance configuration resource link "Assignments failed". I have activated and linked ESU for my Arc onboarded Win2012R2.

I have exactly the same problem. I can not add my 2012R2 ESU sefers to any maintenace configurations. I accidentaly renoved two of them from monthly schedule and now I am not able to add them back. Both have ESU enabled.
Luckily manual assestments and one time updates still work so at least we can update the servers.
Got an answer from Microsoft support that this is a known error still under investigation. Workaround: Use dynamic scopes. Works from me using tags.
