cannot enter code into bitlocker

I am unable to enter my bitlocker recovery code into the bitlocker recovery field. When I enter the code it only gives me a cancel prompt. Can someone please help?

Select Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Command Prompt.

In the Command Prompt window, type the following command and press Enter:

manage-bde.exe -unlock C: -rp <48-digit BitLocker recovery key>

Replace C: with the drive letter of your encrypted drive.

Close the Command Prompt window and restart your computer.
