A subscription is an agreement with Microsoft to use one or more Microsoft cloud platforms or services, for which charges accrue based on either a per-user license fee or on cloud-based resource consumption. Azure subscription is a paid service, but Microsoft offers a free trial subscription. However, the subscription expires after a specific amount of time, or charges are made. You have the option to switch a trial subscription to a paid one.
Azure offers a free subscription for students called Azure for Students Starter. This subscription provides you access to a free tier of certain Azure services, including Azure App Service, Azure Functions, Azure Notification Hubs, Azure Database for MySQL, Application Insights, and Azure DevOps Server.
