Issue - Trying to open the cloudshell editor

Hello, i have an issue trying to open the cloudshell editor. When I want to use the button to open the editor it just doesn't work, this has been happening since yesterday afternoon.

Hi!

I'm following along the "Exercise: Create a static HTML web app by using Azure Cloud Shell".

When asked to open the code editor using "code index.html" it prompts me to open the classic cloud shell. When I do that, I have to redo the steps to get back to my folder. Once that is done, and I edit the html file as instructed, I try to redeploy following these instructions:

"Redeploy the app with the same az webapp up command you used earlier.

Bash Copy

az webapp up -g $resourceGroup -n $appName --html

"

However, that does not work. It does however work in the original cloud shell. This is quite confusing. Basically I can't open the editor and the redeploy?

Hi,

Since the updates to cloud shell the editor capability hasn't been working properly. What you can do instead is use a different editor, for example nano . To start it, simply type nano at the prompt.

Why am I unable to open the Azure Cloud Shell Editor?

This appears to be an issue on our end which has since been resolved. You should be able to open the Azure Cloud Shell editor regardless of which version you are using.

If this is not the case, please let us know in the comments so we can investigate.

I just tested, and if in new cloud shell it still requires me to switch to classic cloud shell before the editor will work.

For people completing exercises this can throw them off because the instructions don't mention anything about need to switch to Classic Cloud Shell to launch the editor. For exercises that have variables they would lose the values due to the switch (although I don't know if there are any exercises that combine variables with code editor).
