Error squiggle not showing in visual studio code

Can't see error squiggles

I have three files in my new C++ empty project, two of which are main.cpp and functions.cpp. I can see error squiggles in main.cpp but it is not in functions.cpp. The show squiggle option is on. enter image description here

Is functions.cpp shown as part of your project in the Solution Explorer window pane?
