How to return Windows 11 Startmenu instead of Windows 10?

After installing Windows 11, I ran into a problem where the start menu looks like Windows 10.

Thanks for your post. Based on my research, you can customize the Start layout on a reference device.

To prepare a Start layout for export, customize the Start layout on a reference device. To prepare a reference device:

1. Set up a device on which to customize the Start layout, which should have the operating system that is installed on the users' devices
2. Install all apps and services that the Start layout should display
3. Create a new user account that you use to customize the Start layout

To customize Start:

1. Sign in to the reference device with the user account that you created
2. Customize the Pinned section of the Start layout as you want users to see it by using the following techniques:
   • Pin apps to Start. From Start, type the name of the app. When the app appears in the search results, right-click the app and select Pin to Start To view all apps, select All apps. Right-click any app, and pin or unpin it from Start
     • Unpin apps that you don't want to display. To unpin an app, right-click the app, and then select Unpin from Start
       • Drag existing apps on Start to reorder them

Important

If the Start layout includes pins for apps that aren't installed on the target device, the pins for those apps aren't created until the apps are installed.

If you are using the Windows 11 preview build and want to revert back to the Windows 10 Start menu, you can do so by following these steps:

1. Click on the Start button on the taskbar or press the Windows key on your keyboard.
2. This will open the Start menu. At the bottom left corner, click on the “Settings” icon (shaped like a gear).
3. In the Settings menu, click on “Personalization” and then select “Start” from the left sidebar.
4. On the right side, scroll down until you find the option “Use Start full screen.” Toggle this option to “Off.”
5. Now, the Start menu will appear in the style of Windows 10, with a list of apps and shortcuts on the left and tiles on the right.

Alternatively, if you are using an older version of Windows 10 and want to make your Start menu look more like Windows 11, you can do so by following these steps:

1. Download and install a third-party customization tool such as “StartIsBack” or “Start10” that allows you to modify the appearance of your Start menu.
2. Once installed, open the program and navigate to the settings for the Start menu customization.
3. Here, you can choose to switch from the traditional Windows 10 Start menu layout to a more Windows 11-inspired layout, with a centered and simplified design.
4. Save your changes and your Start menu will now resemble that of Windows 11.
