    Hello Solairaj,

Greetings! Welcome to Microsoft Q&A Platform.

I understand that you are encountering issues with Azure Backup service and hence below are some troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue, please consider the following

First thing, please ensure that you are running the latest version of MARS agent [Version. 2.0.9207.0] - download it from here or from the Azure portal as mentioned in this section. If you are already using the latest version of MARS agent, there are a few things you can try to resolve the issue:

1.Check the status of the Azure Backup Agent service:

    • Open the Services console on the server where the Azure Backup Agent is installed.
    • Verify that the service is running and set to start automatically.
    • If the service is not running, start it and try the backup again.

2.Check the status of the Microsoft Azure Recovery Services Agent service:

    • Open the Services console on the server where the Microsoft Azure Recovery Services Agent is installed.
    • Verify that the service is running and set to start automatically.
      • If the service is not running, start it and try the backup again.

3.Check the status of the Volume Shadow Copy service:

    • Open the Services console on the server where the backup is being taken.
    • Verify that the Volume Shadow Copy service is running and set to start automatically.
      • If the service is not running, start it and try the backup again.

4.Check the status of the backup storage:

    • Verify that the backup storage is accessible and that there is enough space available for the backup. If the backup storage is not accessible or there is not enough space available, resolve the issue and try the backup again.

    5.Restart the backup:

    • If none of the above steps resolve the issue, try restarting the backup.

Hope this answer helps! Please let us know if you have any further queries. I’m happy to assist you further.

    Hello Solairaj Sundarraj

Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the stuck Azure data backup that's been in the "Verifying data integrity.." stage for the past 5 days:

    • 1. Gather Information:
      • Backup Job Details: Access the Azure portal and navigate to the Recovery Services vault where your backups are stored. Locate the specific backup job for the affected server and view details like:
        • Start time of the backup job
        • Any error messages reported
      • Resource Health: Check the Azure Service Health dashboard (https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/get-started/azure-portal/service-health) for any reported issues with Azure Backup or related services in your region.
      2. Analyze Logs:
      • Azure Backup Logs: Download and review the Azure Backup logs for the affected server. These logs might provide clues about the verification process and potential errors. You can access logs from the backup job details page in the Azure portal.
      • Server Logs: If applicable, check the operating system event logs on the affected server for any errors or warnings that might be related to the backup process.
      3. Restart Verification Process (if possible):
      • Some backup solutions might offer options to restart the verification process. Check your backup tool's documentation for specific steps. However, proceed with caution as this could lead to data inconsistencies if the verification was interrupted due to an error.
      • Isolate the Issue: Verify if the verification process is slow for all backups of this server or just the latest one. This might help determine whether the problem is specific to the latest backup data or a more general verification issue.
      • Check Network Connectivity: Ensure there are no network connectivity issues between the server and the Azure cloud storage. Slow or unreliable network connections can impact the verification process.
      • Monitor Progress: Keep an eye on the backup job details in the Azure portal to see if any progress is made in the verification stage.
