How to update pasted links in Word from Excel ?

When we paste some content from excel to word as "Link and Keep Source Formatting", It creates a link object in Word which points to the excel document address.
We can Select -> Right Click -> Update Link using Word UI.
I am trying to replicate similar functionality in an Office Add In application, using Word JS API, for which I am unable to find any function or object.
Please recommend if there is a workaround or API function available to meet this requirement.
