How can you programmatically create a Teams Tab for a SharePoint List or a OneNote file

Until recently we were able to use the Graph API to programmatically configure a Tab showing a OneNote File, and a Tab showing a particular Folder in a SharePoint Library (using the any Sharepoint URL approach - since library tabs dont support showing a particular folder). Now both of these have been removed from the API.
We can still manually use the API to make these same changes, so why is it no longer allowed in the API? This is having a significant negative impact on our existing production systems.
