Consolidate 2 separate tenant into 1.

Is there a way to consolidate or merge 2 separate tenancy into 1.

1 Tenant is cloud only, and the other tenant is hybrid with Entra ID Connect for sync.

Identity, groups, applications and other things to deal and manage.

Does MS have a process on this, or is it a case of a new Tenancy??

Hello,

There is no direct way to do the consolidation, you will have to migrate the data from one tenant to another tenant.

In my experience, I use third-party tools to do this task, such as AvePoint Fly.

In the same way, I share with you the official Microsoft documentation that talks about this.

Morning Carlos Solís Salazar,

The situation has changed, what is MS approach on the following:

A - is the primary tenant that is in hybrid, DC syncing to Azure Entra ID.

with the domain of @thankyou.com - example

B - is tenant that is cloud only, and no on-prem infrastructure.

with the domain of @together.com - example

We would like B's tenant to be merge or migrated into tenant A, but still using their own identities, so all data on hosted in tenant A environment.

Both have SharePoint & OneDrive, M365, Intune.

You can export the users from B to A, but you can't export the password, MFA configuration (if there are any); structure, and permission for SharePoint; Intune configuration.

With any tool, you can migrate the information.

Thanks Carlos, wouldn't it be easier if I was to move the subscription to the existing tenant? Would this be possible?

Hi @Dave

No, you can't move subscriptions between tenants. In fact, during the migration, you must have user subscriptions in both tenants.

Sorry I thought you could transfer subscription between tenant, but that are limitations on RBAC and resources.

The subscription transfer doesn't give you a rollback plan, once you move it there is no way back.

I will stick with the tool you mentioned, sounds like subscription transfer is still

Sorry I though you could, but there are limitations and no rollback plan if you try the transfer of subscription to another tenant.

If you transfer the subscription, you will loss the tenant source tenant,

I will stick with the tool, as this give me better options and rollback plan.
