How can an editor VSIX extend the C# method 'References' UI?

In the VS extensibility model, is there a way for me to add additional links/text to the 'References' text that is shown on top of each C# methods?

I found the github sample for Codelens extensibility, but did not see anything here: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/visualstudio/extensibility/?view=vs-2022

Would it be possible to add additional documentation here?

Thanks! That sample is geared towards VS2019. Has any work been done to make it work in VS2022 (it currently does not as-is)?

It's not so much the extension, but all the dependencies it has:

It does not build straightaway with many warnings. Building again succeeds, but with many warnings.

There are over 50 outdated nuget package references, some even deprecated. Updating those packages results in build failure.
