Ingestion Purview S3 metadata PowerBi

Hi there,

I have scan data from an AWS S3 bucket into Purview and have been tasked to see if it is possible to add this into PowerBi somehow.

Is there a way to do this.

I am aware that I can do it the other way i.e. PowerBi --> Purview using the Fabric Connect resource, but cannot see a way to do the opposite way for a different data source i.e. Purview S3 metadata--> PowerBi.

Is it possible and if so how do I do it

Please correct me if my understanding is wrong. You want to know if there is a direct integration from Purview to Power BI.

If my understanding is correct, the short answer is NO.

Azure Purview primarily serves as a data catalog and governance tool. It helps manage metadata and provides insights about data lineage and classification but does not directly serve data for analysis.

To visualize data in Power BI, you need to access the actual data, not just the metadata.

Here are some ways to achieve this:

Since there is no direct connector to access AWS S3 data from Purview to Power BI, you can use Azure Data Factory to copy or move the data to a data source supported by Power BI (e.g., Azure SQL Database). Once the data is in a supported data source, you can then access it from Power BI.

Hi @BhargavaGunnam-MSFT ,

Maybe I worded it wrongly - is there any way I can use PowerBi to look report on the metadata from Purview - basically like the Purview Hub in PowerBi, but rather than have it look at the PowerBi estate, look at the metadata from the S3 bucket ?
