    Hello,

Based on the information available, Windows Server Essentials 2019 is designed for small businesses and is limited to 25 users and 50 devices. It does not support the Remote Desktop Session Host (RDSH) role, which is required for setting up multiple Remote Desktop Services (RDS) sessions. Essentials is limited to 2 active sessions for administrative purposes only. If you need to run RDSH for multiple users, you would need at least the Standard edition of Windows Server. Additionally, each user and device that connects to a Remote Desktop Session host needs a client access license (CAL).

For more than 2 users, you would need to install RDS CALs on a RDS Licensing server, configure GPO to use the licenses, and you need to install the RDS Role on the Windows Server Standard edition.

If you're considering remote access options, Server Essentials offers Anywhere Access functionalities (Remote Web Access, virtual private network, and DirectAccess) which can be configured on the server to access resources remotely. However, in server 2019, Remote web access feature is no longer available. So, for full RDS capabilities, upgrading to a Standard edition is necessary.

For the most accurate and up-to-date licensing advice, it's recommended to consult with a Microsoft licensing specialist
