    Hello.

Reset your Microsoft account password: If you're using a Microsoft account to sign in to Windows, you can reset your password by following these steps:

On the sign-in screen, select the "I forgot my password" link below the password text box.

Follow the steps to reset your password.

If you added a security question when you set up a local account for Windows 10, you have at least version 1803 and can answer the security question to sign back in.

For versions prior to Windows 10, version 1803, you can't reset your local account password because there are no security issues. You can reset your device to choose a new password, but this option will permanently delete your data, programs, and settings.

Note: Microsoft support engineers can't help you retrieve or bypass lost or forgotten passwords.

Go to the Microsoft account password reset page (https://account.live.com/password/reset) and follow the instructions.

If it is a Local account, then boot into Safe mode. Open Command Prompt and type the following command followed by hitting the Enter key:

    net user username newpassword

Replace username with the account name and newpassword with the new password you want to set.
