Can Sensitivity Labels for images be carried into SharePoint/OneDrive?

Hi there,

I have a client using the Purview Information Protection client to apply sensitivity labels locally in Windows before uploading files into SharePoint. The Office files (e.g. XLSX, DOCX, etc.) are retaining the sensitivity labels but images (JPGs, PNGs, etc.) are not. Is this a hard limitation or is there a way to retain (or activate) the sensitivity labels on images in SharePoint/OneDrive?

Thanks,

Alan

@Alan NZ - Thanks for the question and using MS Q&A platform.

According to the official documentation: Enable sensitivity labels for files in SharePoint and OneDrive, sensitivity labels can be applied to Office files in SharePoint and OneDrive, but not to image files such as JPGs and PNGs. This is a hard limitation and there is currently no way to retain or activate sensitivity labels on image files in SharePoint/OneDrive.
