I will be honest, the Microsoft authentication app has been pissing me off for the past week. I decided that I would delete the app and find another way to authenticate my identity for my accounts (without thinking of any possible way first, dumb). But without the authentication app i couldn’t see what codes were been sent to be able to login, so I reinstalled it, went back to login my Microsoft account on the app, but it’s so stupid because now I need an authentication code to add my account to the authentication app?? How could I possibly get an authentication code to login into the authentication app if I need the damn app to give me the code?? None of this makes sense and there honestly should be a second solution for situations like this. Please help anyone!

If you have set up backup options like an alternate email address or phone number, you can use these to regain access. Try this

Go to the Microsoft Account Recovery Page:

    • Visit the Microsoft account recovery page.

    Enter Your Account Information:

      - Provide your email address, phone number, or Skype name associated with your Microsoft account.

    Follow the Prompts:

    • Choose the option to receive a code via your alternate email or phone number.
      • Enter the code you receive to verify your identity.

Or you can reset QR code scanning on your new phone by

    1. https://mysignins.microsoft.com/security-info sign in with your own credential
    2. scan
    3. Use the Microsoft Authenticator app to scan the QR code then next On your Auth app click to + sign , choose  “work or school account” then scan this QR code with  “scan QR code” option . This should work
