Office 365 account was added to iphone 14 Pro. Admin asked me to change password after a company-wide email scamming issue, which I did. When I went to re-enter password for iphone native mail app, the account could not be verified. Deleted account and attempted to re-add the account; same outcome. When trying to do so by sign-in, the mail app attempts to launch the Microsoft 365 sign-in page, ubt bounces back to the app and pops up an error that the account cnnot be verified. Manual configuration eventually leads to the same pop up error message. Meanwhile, the account works just fine on my other apple devices (ipad) and my other Office 365 account is able to to install on the phone, so I know it is not the phone. I have no problems signing in on the outlook app, the office 365 website, or my computer outlook client. The only problem is in the iphone native mail app, which is my preferred mail app.

Microsoft supposrt was not helpful and simply claimed that they no longer support iphone mail app so I would eentually lose the ability to use it across all devices and accounts.

Fast forward, I had to get a new iphone 14 Pro. Apple had somehope that a new serial nnumber would resolve the issue, but it did not, which indicates to me that the issue is in the innbox account, not the devices. I have an open ticket with support, but the individual helping me does not call at the scheduled times we have so far arranged.

The mail app should work out of the box. Please check with your tenent admin to check if you have leftover from your older phone, like 2FA or such security still applied to your account.

Please check to be sure you are using Safari with a unchecked network connection. LTE or a home WiFi, to be sure the modern authentification is not block at a enterprise firewall. I would clear your Safari cache too before trying to configure the mail app. Test to log to the office.com webpage too, to see if the login is successful on Safari.

I have tried this with 2FA and without. I've tried on various wifi networks and on my data plan.

Since sending this inquiry, I connected with the support person and we spent nearly two hours troubleshooting. We have workaround solution for the time being. The problem resides somewhere with the DNS records. We changed my username to one of the other domain names on our subscription and I was finally able to set it up. The support person advised that we should have our DNS provider check the records, but they are actually hosted on by MIcrosoft so.....
