I purchased a new windows 11 computer and an deeply disturbed that it is making copies of the videos on the usb flash drive although I never copied anything. I am finding them in msn startup when I hadn't even used msn browser. How do I stop this from happening? Or has microsoft decided that videos on a flash drive can never stay private because windows is making copies and not telling me where they are or that they exist. I find out when I open a window and there are copies of everything I kept private by not keeping copies on a computer. what the hell is going on? are these files also being transmitted to somewhere? without my permission. does this forum take away all privacy on this computer? Do I have to do a recovery to make sure that there is none of my private files still somewhere on this computer? I am seriously pissed that there was not a prompt when I plugged in the flash drive warning me that microsoft was copying it without my consent and hiding the files so I can't delete them

    Hello,

Thank you for posting in Q&A forum.

Windows 11 will not automatically copy video files from USB flash drives. This situation may be caused by other reasons. We suggest that you try the following inspection methods:

Check the automatic backup settings of your computer to ensure that no automatic backup functions related to USB flash drives are enabled. You can search for "backup" in Windows settings to access backup settings.

Run security or antivirus software to scan your computer for any malicious software or viruses. These malicious software may cause files to be copied or transferred to other places.

Check your File Explorer settings to ensure that hidden files and file extensions are not enabled. Sometimes, files may be hidden or displayed as different file types, making it difficult for you to find them.

Check other applications and services installed on your computer to see if there are any settings related to file copying or transfer. Some applications may automatically copy files to specific locations.

I hope this information is helpful to you! If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask.

    Best regards,

    Jill Zhou
