Keep poup “More information required" for every sign in on 365 Admin Center

Question

After security defaults was enabled on 365 Admin Center, registered MFA with MS Authenticator and phone / email address for administrator sign in.

It keeps popup with “More information required” for every sign in now.

Then disabled security defaults on 365 Admin Center. It still keeps popup with “More information required”.  

Also tried “Require re-register multifactor authentication” for this account but still not fix.

Now need to register multifactor authentication either email, phone or MS Authenticator each time for eveyr sign in. For safety, I have created another admin user for backup.

 How can I fix this issue? Many thanks.

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A Community.

I understand you are being prompted to register for authentication at every sign in.

Please be informed that security defaults in tenants control MFA without Premium licenses. The MFA control can be shifted to conditional access once you add a premium license to your tenant.

However, MFA registration can be prompted based on the settings within the tenant. One particular place to check is the Self-Service password reset blade. If you have enabled this, users will be forced to complete MFA registration if they haven't done so.

Also, check within the Entra ID Protection if the MFA registration is enforced

Hello Babafemi Bulugbe, thanks for your feedback. We don't have Microsoft Entra ID Premium license and mainly use Exchange online service (Cloud email and Onedrive) only

Finally, configure MFA to disabled for this user and fix this issue. thanks.
