Created a VM image in Azure and now the VM cannot be started

I have created an image of a virtual machine in Azure, only to find that I am now unable to start the virtual machione, from my research it appears the action is irreversible. My question is this, the VM is required with thesame name, how can i recover it back ?

Do I delete the initial virtual machine that was imaged, then create a new one from the image taken and keep thesame name ? Will everything still work correctly the way it worked before ?

Thanks in advance ?

    Hello MrFlinstone

Welcome to microsoft Q&A, Thankyou for posting your query here,

You can recover it by creating a new virtual machine from the image taken and keeping the same name.

Before you proceed with this, you need to delete the initial virtual machine that was imaged(make sure you note all the configurations of the virtual machine).

Later Go to the "Virtual machines" section in the left-hand menu and click on "Add". Provide a same name for the virtual machine and select the image that you just created.

Follow the prompts to configure the virtual machine (configurations of old VM) and click on "Create" to create the virtual machine.

Everything should work correctly the way it worked before. However, please note that any data that was stored on the original virtual machine will not be available on the new virtual machine.

    hope this helps you.

In my opinion there should be a big warning about that.
