Do I lose my VOLUME_MAK license if I do a reset of my PC?

I'm concerned my PC has a virus so I would like to do a full reset of my PC to start fresh. However, I'm concerned that I won't be able to activate Windows again after I do the reset because I have a VOLUME_MAK channel license.

Will I need to buy the license again or does it stay?

Hello,

MAK keys have a number of allowed activations available. The number of activation on each Product key is determined by the Volume Licensing agreement or via the program under which that product key was distributed.

Each time you activate using that product key, the number of allowed activations are decremented by one, regardless of the machine that it is activated on.

Not sure how you would determine how many activations you would have remaining on that product key without making a call to Microsoft.

If you have a VOLUME_MAK channel license, you should be able to activate Windows again after resetting your PC.

The license key is tied to your organization and can be used to activate multiple devices. However, if you have exceeded the number of activations allowed by your license agreement, you will not be able to activate the system, depending on the number of MAK activations remaining.

The remaining MAK activations can be viewed in the Microsoft 365 admin center by following these steps:

• Sign in to the Microsoft 365 admin center. https://www.microsoft.com/zh-cn/microsoft-365/business/office-365-administration
• Go to Billing > your product>Volume Licensing> Downloads & Keys> hover over your product, and then select View keys. You can find product key information, volume licensing keys, and used and available MAK activations for each product.
