On this page: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/training/modules/understand-azure-active-directory/2-examine-azure-active-directory. the following statements are written but they seem to contradict each other: "Within an Azure subscription, you can create multiple Microsoft Entra tenants. Having multiple Microsoft Entra tenants might be convenient if you want to test Microsoft Entra functionality in one tenant without affecting the others.

At any given time, an Azure subscription must be associated with one, and only one, Microsoft Entra tenant." I this an error or am I just not reading it correctly?

Thank you,

Eric

    Hi Eric,

An Azure subscription can only be associated with one Entra ID tenant. If an Entra ID user has appropriate permissions (e.g. assigned Tenant Creator role) to their tenant, they can create additional Entra ID tenants. As an aside there are certain cases where you are prevented from creating new tenant even when you have enough permissions, such as if it is a free subscription.

Based on above, you can see that the module text needs to be clarified.

The statement is incorrect. You do NOT create an Entra tenant WITHIN an Azure subscription. Azure subscriptions are separate from Entra tenants. Every Azure subscription must be linked to one and only one tenant. However, an Entra tenant can exist independently of an Azure subscription. In addition, an Entra tenant can be linked/associated with multiple Azure subscriptions
