Can you please advise how we can set up a Service Account with the least amount of privileges.

Hi all,

Can you please provide a step by step process on how we can best accomplish the below.

We currently have a need for a Service Account to be set up for a data platform between Fivetran and Sharepoint.

Our goal is to create a Service Account with the least amount of privilege available or if possible an option without a Service Account.

Any and all guidance is appreciated.

According to the Fivetran documentation, you will need to use a SharePoint account, there is no
"Service Account" concept in SharePoint Online; no other method is supported to connect to Fivetran. The least privilege necessary for the service account is Read. Here’s a general outline of the process:

• Create a SharePoint Account: This account will be used to authenticate and authorize Fivetran’s access to SharePoint. Ensure this account has READ permissions to access the SharePoint resources you want to connect to Fivetran.
• Connect SharePoint to Fivetran: Follow Fivetran’s SharePoint setup guide to connect your SharePoint account with Fivetran. During this process, you must provide the credentials for the service account you created in the step above.
