According to the Fivetran documentation, you will need to use a SharePoint account, there is no
"Service Account" concept in SharePoint Online; no other method is supported to connect to Fivetran. The least privilege necessary for the service account is Read.
Here’s a general outline of the process:
- Create a SharePoint Account: This account will be used to authenticate and authorize Fivetran’s access to SharePoint. Ensure this account has READ permissions to access the SharePoint resources you want to connect to Fivetran.
- Connect SharePoint to Fivetran: Follow Fivetran’s SharePoint setup guide to connect your SharePoint account with Fivetran. During this process, you must provide the credentials for the service account you created in the step above.
