"Notifications & Actions" Menu is gone

Hello,

We are having a problem with the menu "Notifications & Actions" in Settings => System under Windows 10.

The whole menu is not visible to the end user and we have reason to believe that this is due to a group policy setting.

Sadly we cannot identify the specific setting that turned off the whole system menu entry.

The notification center (bottom right button into the sidebar on the right) is displayed normally and can be interacted with, but the "Manage Notifications" link in the top right just leads to the root of the settings menu.

Specific settings in "Notifications & Actions" are also found when using the menu search function, but these are also inaccessible.

Is there any group policy setting that can influence the visibility of this menu in particular?

You may consider the following registry edit:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer. A DWORD value named HideNotificationArea set to 1 indicates the notification area is hidden.

Yes, there is a group policy setting that can influence the visibility of the “Notifications & Actions” menu in Windows 10. This is managed through the Settings Page Visibility policy.

 

Here are the steps to use the Settings app Group Policy:

 

Open the Local Group Policy Editor and then go to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Control Panel.

Double-click the Settings Page Visibility policy and then select Enabled.

Depending on your need, specify either a ShowOnly: or Hide: string followed by a semicolon-delimited list of the Settings app pages.

For example, if you want to hide the “Notifications & Actions” page, you would need to find the URI for that page in the MS-Settings URI Scheme Reference. Once you have the URI, you can add it to the Hide: string.

Please note that when you specify the URI in the Settings Page Visibility textbox, don’t include ms-settings: in the string.
