Hi I have a requirement to create Log Analytics workspaces. The pricing tier I have selected is pay-as-you-go. My budget is 2000 dollars per month. I want to get an alert when my usage reaches 1000 dollars and stop using Log Analytics workspaces when it reaches 2000 dollars. How can I achieve this? I want to continue this for 3 months so that I will have a clear picture of the usage.

    Hi Glenn Maxwell,

We appreciate your engagement with us on the Microsoft Q&A forum.

To efficiently manage your budget for Azure Log Analytics workspaces, follow these steps to configure usage alerts and implement measures to halt further usage once your budget thresholds are met.

    • Start by navigating to the Azure portal and accessing the Cost Management + Billing section. Under Cost Management, select Budgets and click + Add to create a new budget.
    • Choose the appropriate subscription, set the budget time to monthly, and specify your budget limit as 2000 USD. Proceed by clicking Next to configure alerts.
    • On the budget creation page, you can establish alerts to notify you when you're spending reaches certain thresholds. Create an alert for when 50% of your budget is used (1000 USD) by adding a budget alert condition.
    • Set the threshold to 50% and add your email or other preferred notification channels to receive alerts. Similarly, create another alert for when the budget reaches 100% (2000 USD).
    • Finally, click Create to complete the budget setup and enable the alerts. This will help you monitor your expenses and ensure you stay within your budget.

Unfortunately there is no way to "stop" the spend on an Azure subscription. However, here are a few options to consider:
