How to remove someone else's work account from Microsoft Teams sign in page in my laptop?

A colleague of mine was having issues with Teams. I do not recall what. But to test if it was an issue with his account or the device, I asked him to sign into Teams from my laptop. He signed in through "app only mode" and after the testing he signed out and I signed back in. When I signed out of Teams, I noticed his account was still on the sign in page.

Now I do not want my colleague's account showing up in Teams sign in page on my laptop.

So, I looked up on the internet how to remove a Teams account from sign in page. Most articles/videos suggest removing it from work or school account section under accounts, but the account is not present there. I also did not find Teams folder under appdata in local or roaming. I guess that may have changed with the new Teams client.

My colleague of course chose not to save credentials so there is no saved credential under Windows credential manager.

If anyone is able to reproduce the issue and successfully remove the account from the Teams sign in page kindly share the solution. Thank you.

    Hi @Anindya Kumar Banerjee

    Thanks for your reply!

I reproduced this issue in a test environment. I deleted the following list to fix the issue:

    %LocalAppData%\Packages\MSTeams_8wekyb3d8bbwe %LocalAppData%\Packages\Microsoft.AAD.BrokerPlugin_cw5n1h2txyewy %LocalAppData%\Microsoft\OneAuth %LocalAppData%\Microsoft\TokenBroker %LocalAppData%\Microsoft\IdentityCache

    Then restart PC.

Kindly also explain why we deleted those files, what are they for and any supporting documentation

I'm afraid there is no official document that explicitly talks about solving this problem. The essence of deleting these paths is to delete all the account information cached by the PC.

      • Delete Teams cache files:
        • Open File Explorer and navigate to %appdata%\Microsoft\Teams.
        • Delete all files and folders within this directory. This includes the application cache, blob_storage, Cache, databases, GPUCache, IndexedDB, Local Storage, and tmp folders.
    2. Clear Windows Credential Manager:
      • Open Credential Manager:
        • Press Windows + R to open the Run dialog box.
        • Type control and press Enter to open the Control Panel.
        • Navigate to User Accounts > Credential Manager.
      • Remove Teams credentials:

        • Press Windows + I to open the Settings app.
      • Go to Accounts:
        • Navigate to Accounts > Access work or school.
        • If you see the account listed there, click on it and select "Disconnect."
    4. Restart Teams and Sign In:
      • Open Microsoft Teams and sign in with your account to check if the other account has been removed from the sign-in page.

      • Delete Teams cache files:
        • Open Finder and navigate to ~/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/Teams.
        • Delete all files and folders within this directory.
    2. Remove Keychain Entries:
      • Open Keychain Access:
        • Open the Applications folder, then the Utilities folder, and double-click Keychain Access.
      • Search and remove Teams-related items:
        • In Keychain Access, search for Microsoft Teams or Office.
        • Select the relevant items and delete them.
    3. Restart Teams and Sign In:
      • Open Microsoft Teams and sign in with your account to check if the other account has been removed from the sign-in page.

    Additional Steps

    • Reinstall Teams:
      • If the above steps do not work, try uninstalling and reinstalling Microsoft Teams.

Following these steps should help you remove the unwanted account from the Microsoft Teams sign-in page. I hope this helps, have a nice day!!!
