How many linux VMs can be created with Windows Server 2022 Standard Edition

Hi all, we'd want to know if there is any limitations on the number of VMs to be created with Windows Server 2022 Standard Edition.

From the webpage https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/pricing, it says that only 2 "ose/hyper-v isolated container" can be created. This is a bit confusing as we'd definitely create more than 2 VMs per host. Thnanks!

That's not what it says. "Windows Server Standard Edition license includes permission for two OSEs or VMs."

Which means your host is licensed for 2 Windows Server OSEs.

Linux don't require a license from Microsoft. The text on that page isn't clear, but your reseller should be able to clear up any questions on licensing.

That last posted info on max VMs I remember seeing is 1024 (for 2012 or 2016).

I'm not sure with Windows Server 2022 if there is a coded limit. You'll likely run out of resources before you reach the theoretical limit.
