Is an approved Azure Open AI subscription needed to complete lab exercise in module 12 for the Microsoft Build Challenge? This exercise involves the use of Azure AI Studio's prompt flow feature to create an LLM app that calls a GPT model from Azure Open AI through a LLM node.

It's not stated in the exercise instructions.

    Jill Yukiko Oshiro Greetings!

Yes, you are correct. you need Azure OpenAI access to complete the exercise.

As part of Microsoft's commitment to responsible AI, we are designing and releasing Azure OpenAI Service with the intention of protecting the rights of individuals and society and fostering transparent human-computer interaction. For this reason, we currently limit the access and use of Azure OpenAI, including limiting access to the ability to modify content filters and/or abuse monitoring.

If you are a student, while filling this form, you can try using your collegiate email address ( and NOT personal email address like hotmail, outlook and gmail).

Your request will be reviewed by the gating team within 10 business days and post approval you will get an email with approval to access Azure OpenAI.

Please note, recently there was a change done for Azure for Students and Free azure subscriptions and it was enabled again but with reduced quotas.

Also, Please add [maccount@microsoft.com] and [csgate@microsoft.com] to your Safe Senders list to ensure you receive all correspondence pertaining to your application, including the verification email from Microsoft Vetting Service. For questions about the application process, please contact our team at [csgate@microsoft.com]

If your access request to Azure OpenAI service doesn't match the acceptance criteria, you can use OpenAI public API instead.

Do let me know if that helps or have any other queries.
