I can't reset user password for any accounts. I am getting this error: We're sorry, we're not able to reset this user's password right now. This may be due to temporary issues on our end. Please wait a few minutes and try again. I am getting this error for any user accounts. It has been going on since yesterday.

    Hello RichK,

    Thanks for your question.

This could be for a number of reasons:

    • If the user is synced confirm if the user has assigned a Azure Premium P1 or P2 license,

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/entra/identity/authentication/concept-sspr-writeback#unsupported-writeback-operations

    • Additionally, check their Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) configuration, as incorrect settings could be causing a conflict.

    Hi @RichK

Thank you for posting this in Microsoft Q&A.

The error you are seeing is related to temporary issues on Microsoft's end, and you should try again after a few minutes. After some time, have you tried it again?

If the issue still persists, could you please share the correlation ID for the activity, i.e. the user's password reset request?

In my environment, I tried to reset the password for users in my domain and was able to do so. As shown in the image below, the status in audit logs is 'successful'.

    User's image

Could you please check the roles you have? The table below shows the roles that have the ability to reset passwords.User's image

Hope this helps. Do let us know if you any further queries.

    Thanks,

    Navya.
