DO I NEED TO PAY AGAIN TO RETAKE AZ-900 EXAM ?

Hello,
I was under the impression from what I read that you had multiple chances to re-take the AZ-900 exam without repayment ?
Now I am not so sure ? A bit frustrating as I would have waited and continued to study more. I have contacted Pearson VUE who have stated to contact Microsoft ? I feel the retake guide could be better communicated so there is less confusion around payment.
Any advice greatly appreciated. Thank you.

As per this document (in regard to fundamentals exams):

• You must pay to retake the exam (if applicable.)
