Hi Team,
My customer has SQL server 2017 Enterprise licensing. He needs to upgrade the SQl server to 2022. Is he able to use the Existing License for SQL 2022 and he doesn't have Software assurance.

As answered, for detailed information about the license issue, you can call 1-800-426-9400, Monday through Friday, 6:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. to speak directly to a Microsoft licensing specialist, or you can go to the Volume Licensing Service Center support.
Product keys are bound to the product version, you can not install SQL Server 2022 with a 2017 key.

Furthermore, even if you were technically able to install SQL 2022, you would be running without a proper license, since the license for SQL 2017 is not good for SQL 2022. Your customer will need to cough up some money.
I recommend getting Software Assurance while he is at it.
