Dark mode not turning on

I am using the New Microsoft Outlook [Version 16.86 (24060916)] on Macbook Air running Sonoma 14.5. When I try to turn on "Dark Mode", it stays in the Light mode. This happens even when I switch it to "System", and my computer is set to dark mode. I have updated to the latest version, have closed and restarted Outlook, and have turned off and restarted my computer. No luck.
