Wireless projection RTCP port usage

When casting from Windows to a wireless display with Miracast, Windows signals RTCP port number 7492 to the receiver. The RTCP port must not be blocked by a firewall for Microsoft real time bitrate modulation to function [1].

Is the RTCP port number fixed to 7492 for all Windows versions?

    Hello.

RTCP is not specific to a certain port number, but the default port range it commonly uses is associated with RTP.

RTP data transmission usually uses an even number of ports, while the corresponding RTCP control information uses an odd-numbered port in the immediate vicinity. For example, if an RTP session uses port 5004, then the corresponding RTCP communication might use port 5005. This rule is not mandatory, and the actual port used can be determined by application configuration or negotiation, but this habit of pairwise use is common.

In real-world network applications, port selection needs to ensure that it does not conflict with other services in the system, and administrator privileges may be required to assign or reserve ports.
    Best Regards,
