I have number of items: 850761 (default limit of number of items : 5000) and e.g. I can't rename a folder:
"This view cannot be displayed because it exceeds the list view threshold (5000 items) enforced by the administrator."

I've already searched the entire internet, Microsoft's help is obviously not helpful. Are there any ways around this? Is it possible to somehow correctly design the structure?

Hi, @DDD ,

I managed to reproduce you issue and found a solution for you. After creating 20k items in my list, the folder I created will not get displayed in the modern experience and the classic experience will not work properly.

As the most common way, we can edit the current view. Add a filter to only display items with a number under 5000. Or we can directly only display folders filter the content type. Only folders will get displayed.

If you still have too many folders, just filter the folder name will be doable.

What if I have files in addition to folders? Use names?

I am trying to split the current document library into several libraries and copy data but I get the same limit message :(
(In Polish but error about limit 5000 items)

And when I go deeper and want to copy more elements, I have this error:

Hi, @DDD ,
If you want to display some files and folders at the same time, you will need to make use of filter settings in the view. Find some criteria which pick up only the required contents. Name may be useful and it always depends on your current scenario.

For moving folders to other libraries, first have a try with the Move to button like this.

If still you get timed out issue, you will need to use PowerShell to move the folder to another location.

First index your columns and then use them to create view(s) for items less than 5k, then attempt to rename the folder name.
