I have been recording some courses using Windows Snipping Tool of Windows 11, and after each course I was going to the %LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\Microsoft.ScreenSketch_8wekyb3d8bbwe\TempState location using the run command to find the recorded file. Yesterday, after the course, I forgot to copy the file to my hard drive and today I went to the location and I saw the file being there. However, when I closed the Windows Snipping Tool app, the file just DISAPPEARED!

It's crucial that I recover the file!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is it possible at all?

    Hello

It’s indeed possible to recover deleted files in Windows, even if they were deleted permanently. Here are some methods you can try:

Check the Recycle Bin: The deleted file might still be in the Recycle Bin. To check, open the Recycle Bin, search for the file, right-click it and choose 'Restore’.

Use Windows File Recovery: This is a free Microsoft tool that can recover deleted files not in the Recycle Bin. You can install it from the Microsoft Store. Please note that you need to restore the missing files to a drive that is not the same drive the file was deleted from.

Use File History: If you have been backing up your files with File History, you can restore your file from an older backup.

Use a third-party recovery tool: There are several data recovery tools available that can help you recover your deleted files. Some popular ones include Recuva, a free program, and Stellar Data Recovery, a paid service.

Remember, it’s important to act quickly and recover your permanently deleted files before they get overwritten. Also, avoid writing anything on the drive where the file was deleted, and recover the file to a different drive.
