Azure Data Explorer: Alerts not triggering

Dear community

After seeing this link, I decided to setup alerts in ADX. I follow the procedure and able to see the results of the query, however no alerts seem to be triggered: below you can see a couple of screenshots, any help is highly appreciated.

@Matteo Traina - Thanks for the question and using MS Q&A platform.

Can you please change the condition to Aggregation type: Count and see if you are able to get the alerts?

Thanks PRADEEPCHEEKATLA-MSFT for your suggestions, in particular Sander's blog.

One the permissions, in my case, was missing; still even adding it, the alerts were not triggered.

I then did the very same process from within Log Workspace (rather than ADX), so same query, same permissions and so forth, and in this case it worked.

One more question: is it possible / easy to to this via cli / automation rather than portal?

Notice the access management for both Azure Data Explorer and the Log analytics Workspace. This took me some time to comprehend.

Yes, your blog post is insightful and indeed one of the permission was missing, thanks for that.

Interstingly, even adding the permission, I could not make the alert created within ADX working, however, for some reason, creating it in Log Workspace ran.

Happy to accept the answer, just before that: is there a way to automate this alert creation via cli?

Hello Matteo,

good to hear it works for you now.

I have not looked into automating this using the CLI.

I expect using a combination of CLI and Bicep could automate this.
