What is the process to install SQL Server Developer on the new Surface Laptop 7 with Snapdragon processor? I get an unknown error whenever I try. I have tried both 2019 and 2022 versions and upgraded to Windows 11 Pro from Home.
The error is same as this.

da macht Microsoft Riesen Werbung rund um Copilot+ und ARM Notebooks, dann wird nicht mal der hauseigene SQL Server unterstützt! Sehr viele Programme verwenden den, so ist dieses Surface Laptop beinahe unbrauchbar. Das dieses Gerät zum spielen ungeeignet ist war mir klar. Das aber sogar hauseigene Programm wie der SQL Server nicht laufen, machen dieses Laptop auch als Arbeitsgerät völlig unbrauchbar! Und nur um etwas Internet zu surfen, dazu ist dieses Gerät viel zu teuer.
Ich verstehe immer mehr, warum die Leute zu Apple und einem MAC Book wechseln. Da bekommt man den MS SQL Server zum laufen.
And the answer is the same: SQL Server is not supported on ARM.
Usually when people are trying to run SQL Server on ARM, they have a MAC, and the recommendation is to use Docker. I don't know exactly how well that flies on Surface.
Thanks. I have looked at Docker but have no experience with it and was wondering if there were some further developments in this area for the Surface or some other solution.
I later learnt there is an emulation option available, and I am told that by using this feature, you can install SQL Server on Surface laptop: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/arm/apps-on-arm-x86-emulation.
