Search Index not working in Onedrive

Hi Team,

Searching file name in OneDrive folder doesn't work but file already exists in that folder.

I received an email, I think, that said that search all was not operational for OneDrive personal at the time. After a while, I tried it again, and it's been working since.

Hi,

I suggest you try to reset OneDrive:

Then please go to File Explorer- Right click OneDrive folder- select Properties- Advanced button- Check the option 'Allow files in this folder to have contents indexed in addition to file properties'- Apply the changes and restart your computer.

Hi @Emi Zhang-MSFT ,

Thank you for your response but I am having issues searching through OneDrive web version.

I tried looking for OneDrive settings and doesn't seem to be an issue there. Can you let me know what could be the possible resolution for this?

Did you try to change the browser to check if this issue still existed?

You can also try to sign out of your Office account, clear your browser cache and cookies, and sign back in to see if this resolves the issue.

And I also find the issue list for OneDrive, you can find "Cannot find files in OneDrive web or mobile [INVESTIGATING]":

All these responses are so useless. Everyone is having problems searching OneDrive in browsers. Can't you see that? It used to work but for some time now, it is not working. All these stupid suggestions are not helping. We are not our grandparents to not know how to use PCs. Microsoft needs to fix this. Yes we tried different browsers, different PCs, Phones, incognito mode and all the other options. Nothing works. Searching through files can't be that hard. Come on.

Don't be rude.
This is how troubleshooting works. You need to go down a list to narrow down what would be causing the issue. Also have you tried sign out and sign back in and Turn off your computer and turning it back on?

I was having the same problem in Windows 10. The fix for me was to deselect all the backup folders (OneDrive > Settings > Sync and Backup) then unlink the PC (OneDrive > Settings > Account > Unlink this PC). Reboot and reinstall OneDrive and wait for Windows Search to finish indexing.

I can now search the filenames of offline files and the contents of downloaded files. If you want to search the contents of all file you need to select OneDrive > Settings > Sync and Demand > Files on Demand > Download all files.

At the same time I had also removed an old hard drive from my PC which had an earlier version of Windows (and some Documents folders). Not sure if that helped.
