@Starnes, Daniel, Thanks for posting in Q&A.

Based on my research, Microsoft Intune is an incredibly powerful mobile device management and mobile application management platform that is designed to help organizations unify endpoint management solutions and ensure cloud security across the entire environment and Microsoft Intune empowers you to control how the devices within your network are used by configuring specific policies and controls.

Microsoft Intune for Education has been designed to make it as easy as possible for educational organizations to create a safe learning environment, deploy apps, manage users, and secure data while ensuring privacy and compliance across all devices.

Here is the difference between Microsoft Intune and Microsoft Intune for Education:

1.Microsoft Intune for Education doesn’t include a number of features that are available in the full Intune console, which are geared towards enterprises. Despite missing these features, Intune for Education is not limiting as more often than not schools, colleges and universities do not require these missing features.

2.Intune for Education apart is how quick and easy it is to deploy than Intune

3.Another distinction between Intune and Intune for Education is the ability to create ‘campuses’. Within Intune for Education and ‘School Data Sync,’ you can logically group data or devices together by location, for example by campus or school name, under a larger entity like a university or city. You even have the option to target devices based on who is using them, whether they are faculty members or students.

If admins use Intune for Education for day-to-day tasks and want to turn to the full Intune console when they need to configure a more complex setting, you don’t need to choose between Intune for Education and the full Intune Console, as both are included within the same subscription package which reduces user configuration choices and increases productivity and that's why they both in the same package.

    Non-official, just for reference.

Hope above information can be helpful.
