Network Devices failing SNMP Ping

We have 2 devices that are being stubborn at the moment. Out of 11 Sonus devices that I am monitoring via SNMP and have added successfully in to SCOM, 2 of them immediately fail the SNMP check and then go grey.

According to the configuration, this is simply performing a GET on .1.3.6.1.2.1.1.1.0

If I use the MIB Browser from the same server, I immediately get a response to this GET with valid information, so I cannot understand why SCOM is unable to do the same. The response is also pretty rapid from the MIB Browser, however just for fun I have increased the timeout twice now on these devices to 10 seconds and then further to 20 seconds to test if it is just timing out.

Are there any other specific tests that I can run that would compare with what SCOM is doing here? ICMP Ping is fine on both devices, and the discovery itself has pulled back the information, including that OID which the the SNMP check seems to be running.

Is SCOM doing anything different to explain why I can get a response from a MIB Browser on the same server and yet SCOM is saying it is not getting a response?

Thanks

Andrew

    Hi,

if you had the same behavior for all devices, it would be easier to explain, but only 2 of 11...this is strange. Are the device the same?
Can you please check the OperationsManager event log on all management servers, which are part of the Network Monitoring Ressource Pool? Please filter and display only Warnings and Errors and check if there are any related events. This could eventuelly help us find out more about what is exactly happening.

    Thanks and Regards,
