Problem with renaming Sharepoint root site

Question

I´m trying to rename the communication site of our company (root site). I´m administrator and the name changes when I save it. In a few seconds or when I reload the site the site changes back to the previous name again. What am I missing?

I´m doning the change in "active webbplaces" in admin center for Sharepoint.

Hi @MiaMaria , thank you for posting in the Q&A forum.
I have just tested in my SharePoint Online environment and everything works as expected.

Please check as following:

1. Make sure you log in as a global admin account to rename the site via SharePoint admin center. You can switch to another global admin account to test again.
2. Switch to another browser or clear the browser cache and test again.
3. Try changing the site name in the site instead via Settings > Site information > Site name, or via classic Site Settings page > Title, description, and logo > Title. Log in as a Site Collection Administrator account to make the change and see if it works.

Hi @Chelsea Wu and thank you for your reply.

1. I asked a colleague to log in with his global admin account. Unfortunately it didn´t help.
2. Since it was the first time the colleague tried we didn´t think it was necessary to switch browser.
3. This is strange because at this place I have no problem to change the name. It changes directly and stays correct. Despite that it shows the wrong name in the "background" and everywhere we se "start" as the name of the site instead of the correct name. (Sharepoint start page, news etc. se pictures below.
