Why is Microsoft not capable of providing simple and reliable home networking in Windows 10.

I have a fairly normal household with a few desktops, laptops, tablets and phones with fibre broadband. I am not an IT expert, I just have a few devices at home, to network together. I do not want to be delving into the innards of the operating system tweaking the registry or writing scripts. I expect and demand that for such a small setup the networking should be simple and reliable. That means that it should not get screwed up every time an update arrives.
Yes I appreciate that in large organisations the networking requirements are significantly more challenging. However they employ an army of IT specialists to keep it running. The average Joe at home does not want all that hassle.
How am I expected to get my small setup to work when the ground rules change every 5 minutes? Plus the fact that you can not use the PC half the time because it is too busy playing with itself, not a great exaggeration.
One pissed off user who has no idea, now, how to get it all working. Probably going mess things up more, not knowing which advice to use.
