SQL Server is not present in the SQL Server Configuration Manager

My software is not working. I get error 1067. I open SQL Server Management Studio 19 and the server is present. I click connect and receive error 26. I click <Browse for More> in the server name box and my server does not populate. In SQL Server Configuration Manager, the server is not listed under <SQL Server Services>. My server is listed in Services.msc but it will not start, I receive <Error 1067: The process terminated unexpectedly>

Everything that I read says to go to the SQL Server Configuration Manager to fix this issue.

We are using SQL Server 2022 (SQLExpress)

I have other software that used the same SQL Server and that is running and it is present in the configuration manager, so I do not believe that uninstalling the SQL Express and reinstalling it is an option. A tech support for my software had me do that which invoked a 16 hour over 2 day tech session with my other software that was affected.

I really need my software to work. I cannot get help from my software except to uninstall which is what killed my other software connection to its SQL instance.

Please help. Give me the name and phone number to someone with Microsoft that can help. It has been 10 days now that I cannot use my software and I am losing money daily.

Thank you,

Kathy

    Hi @Linda Loew ,

Thank you for reaching out and welcome to Microsoft Q&A.

This error takes place due to many reasons and some of these are:

    • Improper configuration of the program.
    • If the program occupies more memory than assigned.
    • If the system files utilized by the SQL Server have become corrupted.
    • If the files associated to the program are deleted (intentionally or accidentally).
    • If the user entered inappropriate license information that might result in collapse of application.

The above said factors might leads to sudden termination of application without any prior notification. Since, the error message does not present much information about the cause or resolution methods, so the event log for the SQL server can be referred to know more about the SQL error 1067.

I found an official document, you can check the Application log, and verify whether the information in your log appears the error message in the article by yourself.

In addition, here is a blog, it shows the detailed steps in how to troubleshoot the issue. Please check it out and you can post the detailed logs here, we will offer you more help!

Please feel free to share your issue here if you have any concerns. Your time and cooperation are much valued by us. We are looking forward to hearing from you to assist further.

    Best regards,

    Lucy Chen
