Black screen with cursor on Windows 10 and BikLocker recovery key

Carol Tsang 1 Reputation point

Around 2 weeks ago, during my PC’s window 10 were updating, my PC was hanged and without any feedback for a long time.

After restarted my PC and login to the window 10, my PC became black screen with cursor.

I tried to hit the CLTR+ALT+DEL keys and select Task Manager, there is no feedback.

I also tried to restart my PC and go to Advanced options or go into Safe Mode to fix the black screen problem, but my PC requested to provide the BitLocker recovery key. However, I did not have any memory that I did set the BitLocker recovery key before.
I also cannot find the BitLocker recovery key from my Microsoft account.

Please kindly advise any method to solve the black screen issue or where can I find my PC’s BitLocker recovery key.

Thanks for your assistance.

What update were you doing? You need to disable BitLocker to permit firmware updates, it is suggested to suspend BitLocker when you updating BIOS.
If you don’t do that, it may trigger BitLocker recovery mode.
The following information may help you locate your recovery key:
If the recovery key is lost, the drive cannot be unlocked by other means.
Your only option may be to reinstall your PC.

Hope above information can help you.
