Black Screen After Installing AMD Drivers

Hello,

Today I installed a new gpu in my pc, I used ddu to completely uninstall to get rid of any traces of my previous card before installing the new one. When I had installed the drivers for my new gpu and restarted the pc, everything would be fine, until I got past the lock screen and got onto the home screen and a few seconds later, the screen would go black, and I'd have to hold the power button to fully power it off to boot it up again.

I am able to write this because I disabled the gpu in device manager and am using the "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter" instead.

If anyone has a fix or help to this, I'd love it.

Thanks!

    Hello

Since you can see the home screen for a few seconds when your PC boots up, it means that the GPU is working properly. It may be that the installed driver is incompatible with the operating system. You can try the following methods:

Restart your PC in Safe Mode: This can be done by holding the shift key and clicking on the restart option from the Windows menu.

Uninstall the current GPU drivers: You can do this in Safe Mode using the DDU uninstaller, which you’ve already used. This will clean all the drivers.

Reinstall the latest version of the GPU drivers: Download and install the latest version of the drivers from the manufacturer’s website.

Check the seating of your graphics card: Make sure your graphics card is properly seated in the PCI-E slot.

Check for hardware issues: If the problem persists, it could be due to a power supply issue, a damaged card, or a non-functioning motherboard slot.
