Remove Exchange from the organization

We have all our user mailboxes migrated to office 365 and synced with exchange on premises via Active Directory. We want to remove Exchange on premises from our organization completely and want a pure cloud environment.

Please help me about the steps required for removing the Exchange On-premises with 2 conditions.

If we remove AD from our environment.
If we do not remove AD from our environment.

For decommissioning your on-premises AD environment (which you might perform once you complete the decom of your on-premises Exchange environment), refer to https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/entra/architecture/road-to-the-cloud-migrate
