Okay I'm woking on a laptop and this one is puzzling me. It's windows 11 Home

Every two days I get "Your organization requires that you change your PIN"

If I run wmic UserAccount I can see that PasswordExpires is set to false.

I've added a Registry location called PassportForWork and in it there's PINComplexity which has a dword called Expiration and I've set it to the max and still after 2 days it will ask again.

There are no student accounts or work accounts attached to the device, but there once was.

There were a few other one off commands I tried that didn't make a difference.

I've tried everything I've come across on the subject and nothing seems to work.

Does anyone have any info on how to fix this?

For anyone who has had the displeasure of trying to work this out,
Go to Settings -> Accounts -> Your Info
Make sure you switch to a local account which will let you get rid of the Windows Hello Pin without making you do any extra over the top garbage. (aka 99% of the answers I read through while trying to figure this out before just figuring it out on my own).

    Hello,

Thank you for posting in Q&A forum.

    1. Clear the credential cache: To access the Credential Manager, open Control Panel > User Accounts > Credential Manager as an administrator. There, you can manage stored usernames and passwords, including Windows credentials and web credentials. Navigate to Windows Credentials > Generic Credentials and delete any entries that are no longer needed, especially those with domain names. Restart your computer and see if the prompt persists.
    2. Reset local policies: Open the Local Group Policy Editor by typing "gpedit.msc" in the Start menu search and navigate to: Computer Configuration > Policies > Administrative Templates > System > Logon Look for the "Password must meet complexity requirements" and "Password must be changed" settings. Make sure they are set to default or disabled. Apply the changes and restart.
    3. Check for remnants of the domain controller: Although you mentioned that there are no working accounts, remnants of joining the domain may still cause this behavior. Try running nslookup and ipconfig /all to check for any DNS or IP addresses associated with the domain. If found, remove them or update your network settings.
    4. Reinstall Windows: As a last resort, if all else fails, you may want to create a clean Windows 11 installation without retaining any personal data or settings to ensure that remnants of previous configurations are not causing problems.

I hope the information above is helpful.

    Best Regards,

    Yanhong Liu
