How to turn off automatic @mentions in Cloud ADO

My company recently switched from on-prem to a new cloud version of ADO. In work items within the discussion thread, pressing enter or shift + enter automatically populates the previous commenters or the dropdown to select an @mention which is frustrating. Is there a way to turn this configuration off so that it only populates when the toolbar is used or when @ is typed?
