    Hi @Gunnar Magnenat

What is your SQL Server version?

Please verify the version of SQL Server and the edition against the update package requirements and confirm that the update package (kb5040948) is compatible with the version and edition of SQL Server installed on your machine.

    Best regards,

    Cosmog

Thank you for the reply. Upon checking the SQL version with a Select @@version query in SSMS the version, 15.0,4382.1, matches the version listed in KB5040948. The update falsely reported a failure.

No, I think the Update is correct. To wit, this is what "SELECT @@version" reports on my machine:

    Microsoft SQL Server 2019 (RTM-CU27-GDR) (KB5040948) - 15.0.4382.1 (X64) Jul 1 2024 20:03:23 Copyright (C) 2019 Microsoft Corporation Developer Edition (64-bit) on Windows 10 Pro 10.0 <X64> (Build 22631: )

That is, you already have the GDR installed.
