Is there a policy to prevent the Opera browser from being installed with a user without elevated permissions?
I only want to have it installed with administrator permissions.
Hello Mario,
Thank you for posting in Q&A forum.
You can try the methods below to prevent Opera (or any other software) from being installed without administrator permissions.
Here are a few methods you can consider:
1.Group Policy:
gpedit.msc
in the Run dialog (Win + R). Computer Configuration
-> Administrative Templates
-> Windows Components
-> Windows Installer
.
Computer Configuration
-> Windows Settings
-> Security Settings
-> Software Restriction Policies
, and disallow the installation of specific EXE files like the Opera installer if needed.
2.Local Security Policy:
secpol.msc
in the Run dialog. Software Restriction Policies
-> Additional Rules
. 3.User Account Control (UAC):
4.Third-Party Management Tools:
Note: Please test in lab first before you deploy it in production environment.
I hope the information above is helpful.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to let us know.
Best Regards,
Daisy Zhou
